All Socks Sunday

October is All Sock Sunday month at Holy Cross. Each year, during the month of October we collect socks of any kind to donate to CHUM. Over the past several years of doing this, we have collected and donated over 3000 pairs of socks!! Remember to pick up a package or two when you’re at the store and bring them with you to church!!

A very big thank you to everyone who helped with this year's Adopt A Family program. Whether you purchased a gift, made a donation or helped wrap gifts and tie blankets, your kindness and generosity are greatly appreciated! Because of that generosity, we were able to help four familites have a Merrier Christmas.

2012 is an election year at Holy Cross. On May 6, we will be having a Voter's Assembly to elect new leadership for the 2012-2014 term. The Nominating Committee is beginning it's work to find replacements for board members who will not be returning. Please prayerfully consider serving on a board or committee and expanding your Holy Cross membership horizons!

The Lenten season begins with Ash Wednesday on February 22. We wil lhave worship at 7:00 p.m. The following week, February 29, marks the begining of our Wednesday Lenten potlucks and worship services. The Rachel Circle will be hosting the first dinner. The rest of the schedule is being cooordinated and will be in the March newletter. Plan to join us! Bring any dish of your choice.

Connecting in Christ in the Community

The CHUM Center is looking for cell phones that work, have a battery and a charger for clients that need to make 911 calls.

The CHUM Food Shelf is also in desperate need of plastic grocery bags! Donations can be brought to the Food Shelf at 120 N 1st Ave W.

The Salvation Army has a great variety of volunteer opportunities during the holidays. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact the Salvation Army at 722-7934 or visit www.saduluth.org for more information.
